Sticks and Stones...

I just thought I would update the blog on what is new in our lives. I like looking back at our older posts. On that note, we had quite the "adventure" this morning. Sorry if this post sounds loopy or a little off, it's not my fault!

Woke up this morning from a deep sleep. I fumbled for my phone to check the time; 3AM. Ugh! The right side of my back was in agony! I have had a kidney infection in the past, and it felt similar. I think I swore a few times in my head, praying that it would go away, and then decided to quietly try to find some Tylenol. Poor James was sleeping so soundly I didn't want to wake him up.

The pain seemed to always be there, getting a little worse, then a little better, but always with a dull ache. I tried to fall asleep but nothing was working. Finally around 5 AM James' alarm went off. I told him what was going on, but that it was starting to feel a little bit better and to go to work.

6:30 AM rolls around.

At this point I want to die. I have had appendicitis before, and I think this was worse. I honestly was thinking the whole time "Is this what childbirth feels like?"

Around this time I call James sobbing and hysterical, asking if he can come back home (keep in mind he drives to Logan everyday from Ogden.) Of course he says yes, and tells me he is on his way. As I am waiting for him to get home, the pain gets worse and worse. Nothing would make it feel better. Did it explode?

Around 7:30 AM James gets home and we head up to the Urgent Care.

After X-Rays...

Blood Work...

and a CT Scan

We found out what was wrong. kidney stones :( I have 3 in my right kidney, one of which is in my ureter (the tube connecting your kindey's to your bladder). That particular one measured 3.8mm by 2mm. I haven't actually passed it yet, the pain from earlier was it being dislodged. I found this picture on Google (I know right?) Here is a rough idea of what it probably looks like:

I am on lots of these right now...

I just want to say how thankful I am for Health Insurance and modern medicine, and also for my wonderful husband who works so hard. I love you!

Love,

Shandi

First of all I must say I laughed at your very creative title :) Second I feel so sad for you! I bet you are dying! If I could come and watch chick flicks with you I would!

Oh my goodness! Bless your heart. My sister Annika just went through that and said it is the worse thing in the world. Good luck, let me know if I can do anything for ya!
