As humans we make decisions everyday; right or left, one or two, up or down. Although we hope these decisions are for the better, many times they are not. As a young adult, I can testify to making poor decisions. Tattoos have been around for decades; ranging from symbolisms of love, comradery, and special events. “If you can think it, you can ink it” is a slogan I envision many tattoo fanatics living by, primarily the “young and foolish”.
Some tattoos are the result of an impulse decision or an attempt to conform to friends, my grandfather being a prime example. During the War, the men in his assigned platoon decided to each receive a tattoo. Fifty years later, my grandpa regrets that decision and is reluctant to talk about the tattoo. He wears long sleeved shirts, even during the summer, to hide his mistake.
In today’s world, laser tattoo removal is possible through companies such as New Look. By using lasers, in “short pulses”, tattoo ink can be shattered into small particles, later removed by microphages in human tissue. Shattering is produced through two mechanisms: PhotoAcoustic Effects and Selective Absorption of Chromospheres. Erase yesterday’s mistakes with today’s science!
