the skinny on us

Hello long lost world!
What's new with us you ask?

Well..

SCHOOL/WORK:
I'm still going to school and working full time at the clinic. I'm going through the summer as well, and let's just say it kind of sucks. I'm doing the whole work 8-5:30 thing and then go to school from 6-8:30 or 9ish. Then comes the couple hours of homework or studying at night. So yeah! That consumes most of my precious time. But I hear stories from you guys out there of the sacrifices, blood/sweat/and tears and it makes me feel like I'm not alone. So thanks for sharing your stories everyone, it helps motivate me. I finish up my Nursing Pre-Reqs the end of August, then start my actual Nursing Core/Clinicals the end of October! I'm really really excited. Just a little over a year after that and I'm D...O...N...E. Then I will be known as Shandi Martin, RN. Heck yes? I think so!

James had school this past week also, he works SO hard. For those of you who need an update or forgot, this will be year 3 of his Electrician Apprentice schooling. Their program is a little bit different, but in a good way. The program is 5 years, alternating between working full time for around a month and a half, and then going to school for a week and not working, then working full time for a month and half... you get the idea. If you think about it, it would be kind of scary to have someone wiring a hospital, industrial site, or even a house and only learning about it from a book... then trying to apply the knowledge. This way, they receive practical experience and schooling at the same time.

He helps me so much during the week: cooking dinner, tidying up the house. It relieves so much stress, I can't even tell ya.

We look forward to the weekends and try and do a "date night" at least every Saturday, even if it's just going to Taco Time or something.

James has also been refinishing our kitchen cabinets... a project that I tried to start and never um... finished. I will post pictures when it is completely finished, but they are coming along! He works so hard... I wish I had half of his dedication/work ethic.

I made some cute craft blocks for my mom and mother in law for mothers day, and then also for my friend April for her bridal shower. I think they turned out pretty cute!

April's: I changed the ribbon to be red later, since it matched her announcement.

Mom and Cathy's: they looked the same, except one had green ribon/blue ribbon

My mom, sister, and I are going to be going to St. George/Las Vegas for 7 days the first week of August and I am STOKED. I am in desperate need of a vacation!!! It's so nice to have things like that to look forward to and 'get you through the week'.

That is pretty much it for now! I'll post again soon.

Love,
Shandi
