As I was walking through Hobby Lobby today, I had a marvelous Halloween craft idea!
I heart Jack 'O' Lanterns. Period! They have so much personality and give off a great "Halloween" touch. My dilema? I don't enjoy the work that goes into carving them, only to have the buggers last a few days. Oh.. and someone smashing them. GRR! Don't get me wrong, I think carving pumpkins is a great Halloween tradition. I just like to enjoy them for longer periods of time. Therefore, I decided to make some Jack 'O' Lanterns that can be enjoyed month long, AND reused.
Introducing... Mr & Mrs. Martin
You will need:
- foam pumpkin (Hobby Lobby and Michaels usually have them for 50% off)
- battery operated candle ( All a Dollar has them 2 for $1)
- computer/printer/internet access
- ribbon of your choice
- knife
- fine point sharpie
- push pins
- colored craft foam
- Take your pumpkin and decide which side you would like your face on. I chose a black pumpkin because I wanted it to stand out, however any color would work!
Step 2:
- click here and pick out a face/design. They even had a dog one! I refrained, but it would have been cute for Daisy.
- Print design. (I found that the more basic the design, the easier it is to cut out)
- Cut out design
Step 4:
- Attach face to pumpkin with push pins and trace with fine point sharpie.
Step 5:
- Cut out face!
Step 6:
- Take your choice of colored craft foam and set inside pumpkin. (I didn't have to attach mine at all, I just kind of wrapped it around the back and layed a piece on the bottom.)
Step 7:
- Take your battery operated candle and set inside pumpkin!
Enjoy! :)
